Non-invasive Body Contouring With Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT)

Body contouring, also known as body shaping, is a procedure to tighten, firm and shape your body to obtain a beautiful and ideal body figure. The procedure works by targeting and subsequently reducing excess fat in any location in your body, it could be your abdomen, thighs, arms, breasts or wherever you desire. Body contouring not only rids your body of unwanted fat but also frees it from the ugly saggy skin you get from weight loss.

Body contouring surgeries are effective in reducing excess fat and skin from obese patients. However, that didn’t reduce their risks such as infections and other health complication. Besides, to obtain positive results from these surgeries, they need to be conducted in repeated sessions that can take up to months or even years.

Fortunately, non-surgical body contouring procedures are emerging today as non-invasive alternative to surgeries. Among these procedures is Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) which, for years, has been used by doctors all over the world to treat acute and chronic muscle pains, swelling, inflammation and soft tissue injuries.

It wasn’t long before its potential as a tool for body contouring was realized, thanks to its capability in reaching to and reducing subcutaneous fat as well as tightening skin tissues.

When LLLT is good for me?

Body contouring with LLLT is suitable for you in these cases:

  • When healthy diet and exercise aren’t helping you obtain the body you dream of
  • When you have saggy skin anywhere in your body from weight loss
  • When you are afraid of surgeries and prefer less invasive procedure
  • When you want to see fast results

Will I get scars from the procedure?

Unlike the surgical counterparts, LLLT leaves no scars on your body. Although you may develop minor bruising or swelling after treatment, these can be significantly reduced compared to other more invasive procedures.

Due to the therapeutic effects of the laser, it coagulates the blood vessels immediately, thus reduces trauma beneath the skin. The point of entry for the laser treatment is so tiny that it does not require any stitches; only surgical glue and plaster is required.

How long is the recovery period?

Following the procedure the patient can immediately return home and commence his or her daily activities. However, it’s highly recommended to avoid strenuous exercise and hot showers for 10 days, or intense massage for 4-5 weeks. This is important to maintain a steady recovery.

How long the results will last?

LLLT results are long term. Nonetheless, it’s important to understand the treatment, just like any other equivalent, does not guarantee that you will not gain weight or accumulate fat deposits in other areas of the body. Maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle is highly advised to prolong the treatment results.
