Our Hair Removal Treatment Via Diode Laser

There are countless reasons of why people desire to permanently rid of their body hair. Whether to look more feminine or to achieve smoother skin, laser hair removal has always been the best non-invasive way to do it. Unlike other methods such as waxing, razors and electrolysis, laser removal inflict (almost) no pain or downtime on patients.


There are a variety of hair removal lasers available today. The effectiveness of most of these treatments is influenced by the skin type of the patient. For instance, the long pulsed Nd:YAG laser is best for people of darker skin tone while the Lightsheer (Diode) is suited for those of lighter skin. However, unlike the first, the diode laser has an advantageous property. When applied on the skin, a very small amount if its light is absorbed by the melanin. Thus it is generally considered a fair treatment option for people of both darker and lighter skin tones. And that's why we use it often to treat our patients.




How it works

Hair follicles are the body organs that produce every strand of hair in your body. At Dermlaze, the diode laser hair removal is performed at the clinic in comfortable settings. During the treatment, our physician, Dr.Jes, directs a beam of concentrated light on your skin where heir is to be removed. The beam is absorbed by the skin pigment that surrounds the hair follicles and laser energy is converted to heat which damages the follicle.

The damage causes significant delay in hair re-growth and, in most cases, permanent destruction of several hair follicles. Unlike electrolysis, which disables one  follicle at a time, the laser can reach and destroy hundreds of follicles at once.




Before treatment

During consultation, our physician will thoroughly discusses the treatment with you and decide whether you need a topical anaesthetic cream. Treatment time will depend upon the area to be treated. A system for cooling your skin will be used to remove heat as it leaves the follicles and should ensure a comfortable treatment. However, since the sensation varies from individual to individual, a topical anaesthesia can be provided. Otherwise, inform our physician if you are very sensitive.



Common questions & answers:

How do I know the treatment is best for me?

The process is straightforward. At your initial visit, our physician will discuss with you your previous treatment history followed by an assessment of your skin condition. Consequently a regime for treatment is recommended for the most effective and optimum results using the laser. Each laser treatment typically lasts between 30-40 minutes. The treatment is repeated after 3-4 weeks.


Is the treatment painful?

The impact of the laser on the skin can be described as tiny pin pricks or tingling sensation which is a minor discomfort to some patients. Our physician can help reduce this discomfort with typical anaesthetic. Our laser has the unique ability to emit the laser in a random spray manner to further reduce the discomfort. After treatment, the area will be slightly reddish and any discomfort will disappear within a few days.


What must I do after the laser treatment?

You will be required to use a moisturizer and sun block for 2-3 weeks. Post laser care is individualized and it is important to follow the physician's advice and instructions exactly for optimum results.Results are observed within 3 weeks. Usually two to three treatments are required for maximum benefit.


What should I expect after treatment?

Some redness and slight swelling may be present in the area that has been treated; however, this should subside within a few hours. If any prolonged redness or swelling occurs consult the physician. Keep the treated area clean, use at least SPF 15 sunscreen when outdoors, and follow the physician’s instructions.


How many treatments will I need?

You may need to be treated from 3-5 times at intervals of 3-8 weeks. There are three (3) phases of hair growth – anagen, catagen, and telogen. Only hairs in the active growth phase; anagen, can be successfully treated.


Will I have bruises or scars after the procedure?

The after effects of bruising or swelling of the Laserlipolysis treatment is significantly reduced compared to other more invasive procedures. Due to the therapeutic effects of the laser, it coagulates the blood vessels immediately, which reduces trauma beneath the skin. The point of entry for the laser treatment is so small that it does not require any stitches; only surgical glue and plaster is required.


Is there risk of complications?

Temporary pigmentation changes are possible but seldom occur. Always discuss your concerns with the physician prior to your treatment.


Can in-grown hair be treated?

The infrared energy delivered by this laser treatement can be used to remove all types of body hair. Sometimes "shaving bumps" can cover a follicle, but the penetrating light of the laser can still be safely used.

Skin Whitening

Skin whitening is the practice of using substances, mixtures, or physical treatments to lighten skin color. Skin whitening treatments work by reducing the content of melanin of the skin. Most of time applications are topical, but sometimes they also involve things like lasers or surgical procedures. Certain patches of skin are noticeably darker than others, and whitening creams or treatments can give the skin a more unified and unblemished appearance. This tends to be most common with markings that are really noticeable, as well as those that are on the face and hands.

Generally, a person’s skin color depends on melanin, which is a type of pigment made in melanocyte cells. People are usually born with certain predetermined levels of melanin, which, among other things, determines the relative darkness or lightness of their complexion. Environmental factors, particularly exposure to sunlight, can cause the melanocytes to increase their production of melanin. This can result in considerable darkening of the skin. In some cases, such sun damage shows up in the form of brown colored age spots.


Skin whitening products can help reduce excessive pigmentation. Typically, whitening creams contain ingredients that hinder the process whereby melanin is produced. Hydroquinone is a chemical often used for its skin lightening effect. Over the counter skin bleaching products may have two percent hydroquinone. A doctor’s prescription is usually needed for a skin lightening cream with four percent or higher concentration of hydroquinone. 

Topical skin lightening creams and lotions often contain chemical agents such as hydroquinone and azelaic acid. Some whitening creams have plant extracts that could have a bleaching effect on the skin. A dermatologist may prescribe a high concentration whitening cream, or perform a procedure such as a chemical peel for pigmentation irregularities. The ingredients, such as vitamin C, licorice-root extract or mulberry extract, in these whitening products help to gently break down the melanin clusters that cause unwanted freckles or spots and even out the skin tone by getting rid of dead skin cells by helping the skin renew itself.


Reliance on Natural Ingredients 

Many products claim to be "all natural," usually by relying on naturally-derived ingredients, in particular acide. Many, for instance, feature kojic acid and azelaic acid as their active ingredients. Several skin lightening products include arbutin, which can be extracted from mulberry, bearberry, or cranberry. Papaya, lemon, and orange are among the fruits that may lighten the skin naturally. These fruits can improve the complexion when included in large amounts in one’s diet, or when their juice is applied directly to the skin. Topical skin whitening products sometimes include a form of vitamin A such as tretinoin, in addition to hydroquinone. This formulation can be beneficial in skin conditions like melasma. Many whitening creams contain a sunscreen as well to protect the skin from further damage from sun’s ultraviolet radiation.


Chemical Peels

Whiteners may also include chemical peels using fruit acids or other peeling agents. The procedure typically involves application of a peeling solution such as an alpha-hydoxy acid to exfoliate the darker, pigmented skin. A dermatologist could perform a procedure known as dermabrasion to lessen acne scars, brown spots, and similar pigmentation problems. In this technique, the skin’s surface is lightly rubbed with a special device.


Laser Options

Laser treatment is among the recent options available to improve skin’s appearance. It may be used for uneven skin tone, and forms of hyperpigmentation such as melasma. This treatment can be directed specifically to the affected areas, or performed on the entire face.

Dark Eye Circle Treatment

Dark undereye circles can be caused by a host of different things from heredity to allergies to poor sleep. Treatments include eye cream, intense pulsed light therapy, skin resurfacing and injectable fillers, but before you choose one it's important to determine the cause.

This is a common problem and are frequently described as "tired eyes." Although dark circles may be the result of facial aging, they can affect both men and women of all ages and have a variety of causes.


Dark eye circle causes

According to medical experts in the RealSelf community, possible dark circles causes include issues related to facial aging, lifestyle choices, and other causes, which include the following:

Dark circles under eyes treatment

Before undergoing dark circles treatment, it is important to know exactly what is causing the dark circles. Treatment for dark circles caused by allergies will be different from a dark circles treatment designed to correct bulging under eye fat.

In some cases, a combination of treatments may be appropriate, especially if there are multiple factors causing your dark circles. Common procedures doctors recommend to get rid of dark circles include the following (from least invasive):

Dark circle eye cream

Skin lightening with topical bleaching agents may be recommended by your dermatologist to reduce dark circles caused by hyperpigmentation from melasma or sun damage.

Creams like Tri-Luma, which contains hydroquinone, are often recommended, as are products that contain kojic acid, Vitamins C and K, green tea, and licorice.

Skin resurfacing for under eye circles

Laser resurfacing and chemical peel may be used to help reduce dark circles by increasing collagen production, decreasing pigmentation problems, and improving overall skin quality. However, laser treatments and chemical peels are most effective when used as part of a combination approach in treating dark circles.

Hyaluronic acid facial fillers for dark circles

Injectable fillers containing hyaluronic acid are often used to correct dark circles created by thinning under eye skin or fat and tissue loss in the under eyes or upper cheeks. Restylane is a commonly recommended hyaluronic acid filler for restoring volume to the tear trough or upper cheek area.

Hyaluronic acid fillers are absorbed by the body within a few months to one year, so results are temporary. The only permanent filler typically recommended for the under eye area is a patient's own fat.

Fat injections to get rid of dark circles

Like hyaluronic acid fillers, fat may be grafted from another body area and injected in the tear troughs to treat dark circles. Fat injections (or fat transfer) are typically recommended for correction of dark circles caused by thinning under eye skin or fat and tissue loss in the under eyes or upper cheeks.

Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, fat injection results may be permanent, however results are not guaranteed, as fat cells don't always survive the fat transfer process.

Surgery for eye circles

Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is generally the most effective way to permanently get rid of dark circles.

There are multiple approaches to lower eyelid surgery, and when it is performed to diminish dark circles, it is often combined with one or more of the following surgical procedures: arcus marginalis release, placement of tear trough implants, and the addition, removal, or repositioning of under eye fat.

Cheek lift to correct darkening under eyes

A cheek lift, or mid-facelift, can effectively and permanently correct dark circles caused by cheek descent, or drooping, a common result of facial aging.

In addition to treating dark circles, a cheek lift may be performed to reduce under eye puffiness and deep nasolabial folds.
